Die Geschichte hinter unseren Heidi-Bilderbüchern

The story behind our Heidi picture books

How a loving idea for granddaughters became a unique book series.

The Heidi books by Marlene Stör are more than just a new edition of Johanna Spyri's world-famous story.

Inspired by her own childhood in Switzerland and her love of nature, Marlene Stör first began to create drawings for her granddaughters.

When she realized that many classic editions of Heidi were difficult for young children to understand, she decided to illustrate the story herself and tell it in a child-friendly way.

She worked intensively on the first drawings for four months - often at night, in silent devotion. Today, the series comprises five lovingly designed volumes with over 350 colored pencil illustrations.

A true project of the heart that today delights readers young and old.
